What are the risks of using a virtual platform for counselling?

Risks of video sessions can include glitchy technology, freezing screens, poor audio, hackers and interruptions in your home. Misinterpreted body language can also come into play, making direct and open communication even more important. Benefits include less travel time, no concerns for poor road conditions and the ability to still have a session when mildly ill.

What do I need to get counselling virtually?

It is helpful if you are comfortable with technology and have the necessary equipment for video and audio. You do need a private space for your sessions and cannot be in a situation that could be dangerous for you. Treatment for young kids is often better when done face to face given their limited attention spans.

What are the potential benefits of on-line therapy?

Online therapy provides opportunities to access counselling services right in the comfort and safety of your own home, no matter where you live in Alberta. We have met so many caring and cuddly pets over the last few years! We are so pleased to provide greater access to our services, including those Albertans living in small communities!

Online video therapy is a counselling service that can be done effectively without being in the same room.  Video sessions allow the therapist and the client to see one another and communicate in real time. Telephone sessions are also available, but do not offer the same ability to see one another's body language.

"Therapy is a gift. It is a chance to finally be heard, understood, and supported."
